Business Solutions
Many small businesses need a web portal which combines power with usability. I’ve used a number of different platforms and got my hands dirty in real HTML a time or two. I’ve even poked Apache with a stick, on occasion. My preferred method is to use a content management system for the backend of a site- something like Wordpress, Joomla, etc. I then tack on a static front page for your portal. The CMS backend allows you, the customer, to modify the looks and functionality of your site without digging into any code.
Through experimentation - and many headaches - I’ve decided to focus on Wordpress.
WordPress is a state-of-the-art publishing platform which focuses on aesthetics, web standards, and usability. It’s free, as in beer. It’s themeable - to the tune of thousands of free themes already floating around the ‘Net. And it’s dead simple to use. Wordpress provides an easy interface which allows you to work in an simple, intuitive manner while the software handles the messy parts of making your site presentable and publicly available. You get to focus on what you want to write, and the software takes care of itself.
Home Office Solutions
These days, many people work from home. Telecommuting has become the new Car Pool lane. For contemplating working from home, I offer these services:
Professional network installation
- This includes installation of up to 2 PCs
- CPE Installation and configuration (i.e. your the modem provided by your ISP))
- Installation of Networking hardware.
- Fax/Copier/Printer installation.
- VPN and Simple File Sharing
We’ll get you set up so that you can use your office away from the office. I’ve spent the last 5 years working with clients optimizing their existing hardware to work with their company internetwork.
Ok, lets be real: Most companies employ their own proper IT guys, even for their telecommuters. So my services are obviously for people running business from or centralized around their home. Contact me, we’ll look at some cheap reasonable, secure commercial solutions using industry standard equipment and software.
I also offer complete home network installation. This service is for those families that want to network multiple personal computers, gaming and printing systems. Xbox 360s, Playstations 3’s, IPods… getting all of this equipment to play nice together can be a pain in the rear. A big tech toy guy, I can have your network and toys humming in minutes.
