Got Dell Latitude D510, boot options are locked, pressing F12 doesnt show CDROM boot at all, tried pulling out HDD, still no option for CDROM boot, still not tried USB, but I assume it wont help since there are no such options on the boot menu.
Have no service tag, so cant call DELL.
Will post reply once tried USB..

Hi,
I am having the very same issue on my Dell Inspiron 8200. I may very well just be computer illiterate, but pressing F12 at start up does not open a boot menu, and with the hard drive removed I just get an error stating "Fixed Optical Drive Not Found - No Bootable Devices". I am at a complete loss and utterly frustrated. Any help would be much appreciated!

Thanks, Worked in less than 2 mins on my dell Latitude D531.
1. Insert disk, power on and press F12
2. Select boot from DVD/CD drive.
3. Enter Service Tag/System number and re-enter to confirm.
4. Re-boot and press F2 (bios admin password is now reset)
