trying to image a Dell Latitude D600. Damned thing had an admin password set to it, which I didn’t have. These files will solve your issue.

  1. DST CD ISO: Down load this zipped image. unzip it and burn it to a CD.DSTCD (2571)
  2. USB DST EXE: This file will create a USB bootable drive, download it and run it with a USB Key in a spare USB socket, Please note not all Laptops can boot from USB key Please check before hand. usb biosreset (1007)

Change BIOS on D600

1.    Power on laptop
2.    Begin tapping the F2 key once the dell logo shows. This will bring up the BIOS. If you see this message “Configure Set up is disabled” – go to step 2.a
3.    There are 7 Pages of BIOS. You navigate these pages by tapping the ALT key (located on either side of the spacebar) in combination with the ‘P’ key.
4.    Go to PAGE 2. This lists the boot order. Active bootable devices are marked with a blue, triangular indicator.
•    The UP or DOWN arrow keys move the cursor to a new device on the list.
•    Press “U” or “D” to move a device up or down in the boot order
•    Use the space bar to enable or disable a device in the boot order
5.    Move the “Onboard NIC” device to the top position in the list and enable it with the SPACEBAR.
6.    Go to PAGE 3. Find the option labeled “PXE BIS Policy”. Change this option to “ACCEPT“with the LEFT /RIGHT arrow keys.
7.    Go to PAGE 6. Find the “WAKE ON LAN” option. Using the LEFT /RIGHT arrow keys change this option to Enabled.
8.    Tap ESC, save the changes and power off the PC. It is now ready to go.

2. A The boot order is locked so you can’t make any changes.
1.    The attached script will reset your bios password and service tags.  Unzip the file and burn the resulting ISO to a CD using your favorite CD burning software.
2.    Power on the PC and tap F12, this will take you to the boot options screen. Chose to boot from “CD/DVD/CD-RW Drive”.
3.    Put the CD into the drive and tap ENTER
4.    If your CDROM is NOT set to the first position in the boot order, you’re going to need to remove the HD. It’s only a single screw. Remove the screw and the hard drive sled will slide out of the computer.
5.    Power cycle the computer and repeat step 2-4.

Is there a similar utility for an Inspiron 7500? I tried this one and get “This system is not supported by this utility”

Curtis says:

Did not work on Dell 630

Does this actually work on a Dell D600 Laptop ? I burned the Iso file and the “script” files onto a CD.
Then I booted up my D600 ( without the hard drive ).
Opened the boot menu by pressing F12. Booted the CD drive, but it says the disk is not bootable.
This is very frustrating =[
Help plz

this worked for me on the D600. I have tried it on other machines and it failed. I actually need something like this to unlock an optiplex 780

Old Laptop User says:

Thank you, thank you, thank you..

I have been searching for a administrative password remover for an old Dell Inspiron 1200.  The password was saved in the eeprom and unfortunately could not be removed by simply resetting the cmos. I had to clear the eeprom. I read about the dstcd file which can do the job but every link I tried were already removed or doesn’t work.  I was able to download it here.

The dstcd burned to a cd didn’t work for some reason, but when I tried the usb version, it did the job..

Again, thanks…

Curtis says:

someone else sent me a note that the CD version didn’t work. I’ll take a look at it.

Oscar says:

Both USB and CD version of DSTCD didn’t work on Dell Latitude D620. I replaced the CMOS battery and then the laptop sending “Invalid configuration information-please run setup program”. Please suggest what should I do?

Curtis says:

you may end up flashing the BIOS.

Cesar says:

Dell Latitude d600. IT WORKED at the first try. Just downloading the CD ISO, burn it onto a CD (using, of course, “create disk from image”, not just write the image like a data file).
My ex-problem “Configuration setup pw” unknown. Not anymore a problem… SUPER-THANKS.

GARY says:
