So today I got about 1k calls before the first bell had rung. Word was hanging up all over campus.

I thought it was the virus scan, but no dice. I thought it was an update pushed down from downtown - no dice.

As it turns out, all the printers in my print list were error’d out. I checked, and none of them were ready. Further investigation showed that my print manager was having some issues. Once compared to all the teachers calling for help, I saw that it corresponded.

To fix the issue, I created a new printer port via TCP/IP, changed my default printer and BOO-YOW… MS Word 2007 came up.

So, class, what do we do if MS word hangs at the splash screen and asks to start in safe mode? We check the printers and change the default if necessary.
