Plugin Feature: DBC Backup
My business is only half a business. I have a number of sites, but I host them myself on a shared account. I’ve built a number of other sites, and I hopst them too. I know I should move on up to a real business solution, but it was never my intent to become a blog host. People ask all the time “Hey Curt!” and then I say “What?”
Then they say, “You know anyone who does websites?”
At that moment, I have to make a decision: Do i or do i not want this business? Do I want the hassles of daily and weekly backups, security fixes, upgrades, etc? I think about how much I love to play basketball, my own blogging responsibilities, my lady, my kid…I guess I’m not much an entrepreneur, because these factors decide how much business I take on. So i guess, I’m more like an ultra-po-negro. (It’s ok to laugh at that, you have permission).
DBC Backup
DBC Backup is a simple plugin that makes my life as a semi-domain host bearable.
Well, I’ve found a plugin that makes my life easier. DBC Back up is a kickass little plugin that I tuck into all of my sites. It allows me to set and forget DB back ups. It schedules daily database backups using the wp cron system. You can select when and where your backup will be generated. You also have the ability to take backups immediately. It’s fast, flexible and simple. I still have various layers of backups (redundancy, redundancy, redundancy). But I like the option of having those backups controlled from within the site. That places the burden on the customer… unless they wanna pay me for maintenance (always an option (and i work very cheap)).
